Animated Movie Saturday: Stop-Motion Animation Workshop

About

A Saturday in the film studio of the Deutsche Kinemathek making your own animated short: children plan a small storyboard, build their figures and props, and then shoot the clip frame by frame in stop-motion with a trick box and a digital camera. The workshop is run by Jugend im Museum together with the Deutsche Kinemathek - Museum für Film und Fernsehen, whose studio equipment the children use, and the finished clips go home with them. It is for children aged 8 to 12 and takes four hours, so there is time to try out camera angles and timing rather than rushing one scene. The workshop takes place every second Saturday of the month; this session is on Saturday 7 November 2026, 11:00 to 15:00. It is free of charge, but places are limited and registration is required online. The venue is the Deutsche Kinemathek at Mauerstraße 79 in Mitte, a few minutes from Potsdamer Platz, and the session is held in German.
