About

A St Martin's festival in the open-air Museumsdorf Düppel in Zehlendorf, on two evenings in early November. As dusk falls families gather on the village square for the story of St Martin and the beggar, and then walk with their lanterns through the woods, meadows and rebuilt medieval houses of the museum village, led by St Martin on horseback. A storyteller accompanies the parade and a live band plays lantern songs for everyone to sing along with. Two parades set off each evening, at 16:30 and 18:00. Please bring your own lantern. Tickets are sold in advance only, from the museum's ticket shop and at the Museumsdorf, Ephraim-Palais, Nikolaikirche and Knoblauchhaus; children under 18 are free, adults pay €8. A lovely, atmospheric outing for families who want to walk a lantern parade outside their own neighbourhood.
