About
Saturday-morning Portuguese courses for children from age 3, run by the Bilingua association in Schöneberg. Bilingua has taught Portuguese as a heritage language in Berlin since 2008 and now teaches around 80 children. Five age groups meet in parallel at the Pestalozzi-Fröbel-Haus: Pardais (3-5 years), Canarinhos (5-7), Canários (7-9), Corujas (9-13) and Picapaus (13-16). Sessions are playful and cultural - songs, circle games, stories, theatre games and crafts - with reading and writing in Portuguese introduced alongside the children's German schooling, so children keep and deepen the language they hear at home. The association also runs a Portuguese music and play group for babies and toddlers with their parents. €35 a month, with €5 off the monthly fee for each sibling; a free trial lesson can be arranged by email.
