About
Puppet and object theatre after a fairy tale by Janosch, for children from 4 to 8, played by Johanna Debes and Rudolf Schmid, directed by Ulrike Winkelmann, and 40 minutes long. Josa is the son of a charcoal burner, and charcoal burners have to be strong - but Josa is small and weak, to his father's sorrow. A bird gives him a magic fiddle and teaches him a song that makes everyone who hears it grow big and strong; played backwards, the same song makes them tiny. Josa practises for seven days and then sets off for the moon: he plays a poor woman's goat big so that it gives more milk, makes a horse small so that it no longer has to haul loads, and when a king locks him in the music room to make himself bigger, Josa plays backwards until the king vanishes into a mouse hole. At the end of the world he plays his song to the moon and his father sees the light in the sky. Performed in German. Tickets €8 for children and adults, €6 per person for groups with the JugendKulturService voucher. Urbanstraße 100 in Kreuzberg, near Hermannplatz, wheelchair accessible.
