About
Berlin's first children's farm, started in 1981 by a mother-and-child group and neighbours on Mauerplatz in Kreuzberg and still run by a non-profit association: an open play-and-learn place where children can meet sheep, goats, ponies, donkeys, ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits, follow the nature trail, see how vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants are grown, and play on the meadow and the large play area beside the farm's clay community house. You can simply turn up with your child - there is no booking and no ticket - daily from 08:00 to 18:00, and in late autumn and winter from 08:00 to 17:00, closed on Wednesdays. The farm also runs occasional nature-education projects for children, such as a regular creative circle, which are announced on its website. There is no published admission fee: the farm is paid for by donations and sponsors, its members and volunteers, and it is recognised as a non-profit youth-welfare provider. The main entrance is at Adalbertstraße 71, opposite the red brick building at Adalbertstraße 23, a few minutes from U-Bahn Kottbusser Tor; a second entrance is next to Bethaniendamm 61.
